Shipt offers a pre-tipping feature that gives customers an option to enter a tip when they place their order, which means shoppers will have the opportunity to potentially receive their tips sooner. If the customer declines the option to pre-tip, they will still be prompted to tip their shopper once their order has been delivered and that option will be available for an unlimited amount of time.
Why are we asking customers to tip while placing their order?
We are providing another opportunity for customers to tip their shoppers. Many customers tip their shopper when they go back into the app to place their next order, which means the shopper could get tipped several weeks after the order was completed. The option to tip while placing the order ("pre-tip") may help shoppers receive their tips sooner and more accurately set and track to their earnings goals.
What happens if a customer chooses not to tip while placing the order?
If customers choose not to pre-tip when placing the order, they will still be prompted to rate and tip after delivery for an unlimited amount of time. The pre-tipping option does not change the post-order rating and tip flow if the customer declines to pre-tip.
Does the pre-tipping feature mean that tips are now included in the estimated pay?
No. Shoppers will not see the pre-tip amount reflected in the estimated pay to complete the order, and pre-tipping does not change order pay in any way. Regardless of when the customer tips, shoppers get their tips on top of the estimated pay. As always, 100% of tips go to the shopper.
Will I be able to see if a member pre-tipped me?
You’ll be able to see if a member pre-tipped on the offer card. Customers may adjust their pre-tip after delivery, so this amount is not guaranteed. Tips are not guaranteed by Shipt.
